In 1993, Dr. Battad, made a memorandum of agreement for Dizon to establish a demo-project. The former president even promised a doctorate degree (honoris causa) and all amenities in order to convince Dizon to transfer his stocks from Tarlac, Wildlife and UP BLISS to CLSU. Dizon finally convinced by Dr. Battad in 1995 and resigned from a high paying job as a consultant of a big fruit plantation. |

Some of the University's
Ph.D. professors and even the dean of College of Agriculture did not believe
that exotic fruit trees would grow in the campus. When the trees started
growing, they commented that those would not bear fruits because right in
front of the former Administration Office, there is an existing century-old
lychee planted by an American school official who founded CLSU in 1907 as
Central Luzon Agricultural School and a dozen of longan trees scattered at
the campus that never bore fruits. When the trees at the farm did bear
fruits, the professors commented that the fruits would not taste good.
But after two years, the large planting materials planted by Dizon like lychee, longan, Davao pummelo, rambutan and apple macopa bore very sweet fruits. Thus, after tasting the fruits during their visit, the CLSU Board of Regents decided to make a new MOA giving Dizon 25 years with an area bigger by a hectare. Dr. Vinai Klajring, a Ph.D. alumnus of CLSU who owns a 10-hectare orchard farm in Chantaburi province in Thailand supplie Thai varieties of mango and other exotic fruit trees in exchange for technology and planting materials of Dizon. He said that although the techno-demo farm is limited space (1.4 hectares), it is very rich in technology and plant varieties. He added that more students should visit the place so they could learn the latest developments in fruit propagation and orchard management. Dr. Vinai said that CLSU is so lucky to have such a demo farm within its campus. He suggested however that a bigger area should be allotted for the project. |

| All exotic fruit trees planted at the farm was proven to be commercially viable. They are producing high quality fruits compared or even better to the imported ones because of the technology modified by Dizon to suit local condition. | ||||||||||||
