Durian in Quezon City

DURIAN IN QUEZON CITY. Photo shows Ninoy Aquino Parks & Wildlife Nature Center Supt. Romulo del Mundo posing beside Monthong durian planted by Bernie Dizon at the DENR-PAWB-Dizon Botanical Fruit Garden at Ninoy Aquino Park, North Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City. Planted in June 1992, this durian has been fruiting yearly since 1997. Besides durian, lychee, rambutan (now in fruit), mangosteen, lanzones and other exotic fruit trees are growing and fruiting at the park although the place is mostly adobe. Dizon will hold an open house next Wednesday, August 30, from 8 to 5 p.m. and will give free consultation on how to grow those exotic fruit trees. He will demonstrate how he converted the waterlogged and barren area into a productive fruit paradise. Grafted planting materials will be available.
