A fruit expert will conduct a seminar-workshop on high-value fruit trees next Wednesday, March 17, at the Municipal hall in Jaen, Nueva Ecija.

He is Bernardo O. Dizon who has set up a techno-demo farm for fruit trees at the Central Luzon State University under a memorandum of agreement with the school.

The workshop-seminar is under the auspices of Dr. Cesar A. Eduardo, mayor of Jaen, through the Department of Agriculture in cooperation with the CLSU under the presidency of Dr. Rodolfo C. Undan. The seminar will focus on mango production although other fruit trees such as lychee, durian, Davao pummelo, oranges, rambutan, mangosteen and longan will be taken up.

The seminar is also being held upon the request of Serafin C. Larazo, director of the Barangay Integrated Development Approach for Nutrition Improvement of the Rural Poor (BIDANI). Jaen is one of the BIDANI pilot municipalities of CLSU BIDANI program.

Dizon, by the way, has been propagating a Carabao Mango that produces big fruits with very thin seeds. This is the Centennial Mango which is now available.
