Edited by Zac B. Sarian
This is an immature fruit (2 months old) of the Millennium mango which is already good to eat as green mango. It is a big (about a kilo or bigger when mature) and is not sour even when unripe. When ripe, the fruit is very sweet and with no "medicine taste" and discernible fiber. It is being propagated by Bernie Dizon.

MILLENNIUM MANGO
Edited by Zac B. Sarian

The editor of this page has tasted for the first time the ripe Millennium mango. The taste is superb. One taster compares it to a fine textured leche flan. It is sweet with very nice flavor (no medicine taste) and the fruit is very big. The fruit that this editor tasted was just one kilo but it could grow up to three kilos. The fruit tree is being multiplied by Bernie Dizon and the first 100 grafted seedlings may be available soon.

MILLENNIUM MANGO A HIT
by Zac B. Sarian

The Millennium mango which was released for the first time last Saturday at the Magallanes Weekend Market in Makati was a big hit. Only a limited number of grafted planting materials could be sold to each buyer.

Bernie Dizon, who has been propagating the outstanding mango, says however that more will be available this Saturday and Sunday.

The Millennium mango is a hybrid that produces big fruits, mostly one kilo each but some will develop into three kilos. The eating quality is excellent. The flesh has very fine texture and no fibers, is sweet and does not have the so called "medicine taste" common with imported mangoes.

This variety also bears fruit without any spraying with flower inducers.

Meanwhile, Dizon said that the Centennial mango (a carabao variety with thin seed and with fine texture and excellent eating quality) will also be available at the Magallanes Weekend Market at a discounted price (less P50 from the usual price).

The double-rootstock Millennium mango, only three feet without branches when it was planted last September, is now more than six feet with plenty of branches. This was planted by Mrs. Naty Abrigo in Laguna. The Millennium mango is a fast grower, flushing as many as seven times a year. It is a hybrid with big fruits of superior eating quality. It is being propagated by Bernie Dizon and is available.
