Rongrien Rambutan

By Zac B. Sarian

One of the best varieties of rambutan is Rongrien, according to Bernie Dizon. This is a variety from Thailand which is suitable for canning. It has crunchy fruits that are sweet and juicy. Grafted Rongrien trees will bear fruit in three years after planting if cared for properly. Big planting materials, however, will bear fruit in just one year from planting. Small grafted trees that are very affordable will be brought by Bernie Dizon to the Magallanes Weekend Market this Saturday and Sunday. These can be planted any time of the year. During summer, however, they have to be adequately watered.

Other fruit trees that will be available are marcotted rimas, grafted durian, lychee, longan, mangosteen, Millennium mango, Centennial mango and Peary longkong.
